This is a new to me Supreme Quality Schoble homburg in midnight blue. I'm guessing from the 1930s based on the union tag. If somebody knows more, please feel free to chime in. It is a very dark blue and a nice felt. The sweatband is 2" dark brown with only "SAMPLE" debossed in it.

There is a small tear in the liner, but otherwise everything is in great shape.

The size is 7 1/8. The tag was solid black with barely readable numbers. It had fallen out, but I have also included a picture of it.

I also included a pic of a pair of ticket stubs I found tucked under the sweat. They are for a show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. I wish I could see what they were for. The price of the tickets were .25 cents.

Nice addition to the Schoble thread. That Ryman ticket might help you date the hat if you research it further. Grand Ole Opry moved there in 1943 but it was active under Lula Naff's leadership before. You're correct that the union label would suggest post 1934. Great find.

Those extra's make that hat a win-win!

You have me drooling!

No stitching in the back, so I'm going to guess pre '20s.

I wonder when that style of abbreviation for Philadelphia was used? Maybe @DaveProc can help out.

Schoble Derby from The Model in Monmouth, Illinois

Any ideas as to the date?

I found a photo of the shop from 1908 and some vintage Stetson advertising circa 1910.

Thanks Randy. I see it is your size — message me if you are interested. I picked it up as part of a bundle of 7 1/8 hats and don’t plan to keep it.

Pre 20s seems like a good estimate. I was able to find that exact reorder label on another very similar Schoble but there was no date information.

According to Google AI:
The abbreviation "Philada" for Philadelphia was commonly used in the 18th century and appears on the Liberty Bell, cast in 1753. At the time, spelling wasn't standardized, and "Philada" was a natural abbreviation, similar to how "Pensylvania" was used for Pennsylvania. Today, "Phila." or "Philly" are more common abbreviations.

Probably not an 18th century hat ;-).

Thanks, Bill. I need to move a few of mine before I start adding more. I appreciate the offer.
