The tag on the rebuilt hat looks similar to the tag on the later Twenty Five that has heavy plastic over liner, so maybe the rebuilt hat isn't quite as old as I was told, but it's not later than the 1950's.

It sounds like you're dating the hat by it's new liner and sweatband, which isn't the true age of the hat.

Which is why I was wondering about the reorder tags, as you indicated Stetson rebuilt it.

I did find this tag in the rebuilt Stetson Twenty Five

I normally associate that reorder tag with at least the mid-50s into the 60s. I suppose it could be as early as 1951...

Tags inside the 2nd Stetson Twenty Five:

Now that looks like late 40s/early 50s.

The Stetson factory box the rebuilt Stetson Twenty Five was returned in after hat rebuilt. Box postmarked Sep 15, 1960. Hat has been in this box since that date

I'm not familiar enough with tags to date the tag on the rebuilt hat, so I'm satisfied just to give it a 1950's date.

I think this tag is 1953+ (although there might be some overlap with the older style). They may have applied the tag at the time of the rebuild.

Tags inside the 2nd Stetson Twenty Five:

This one is approximately 1940 - 1952.

The 1st or rebuilt Stetson Twenty Five had a cattleman's crease when I bought it, so perhaps that's what it had originally. I had it changed to a fedora look.

I'll also mention that at least of these hats have stars in the liner logo and sweatband logo, and the size tag says Stetson. This should mean these hats are earlier than later 50's hats which have the maple leaf in the logo and the size tag doesn't say Stetson on it. I believe the 3rd rebuilt hat is also in this earlier age range because it's size tag says Stetson also.

I shouldn't have called the rebuilt hat the 3rd hat. It was the 1st described.

Bob, that 2nd Twenty Five, the one with the earliest tag, you estimated dating from 1940 to 1952. I just went back and checked the sweatband again, and it has the stub of a O.P.E label attached to the sweatband where the rest of it with all of the writing had been cut or torn off. So this hat dates from 1951 to 1953.

Correction - meant O.P.A. label.

For the benefit of others, this is what you're left looking at if the 1951-1953 O.P.A. sticker has been torn off and you're left with the bottom stub of it stuck to the back side of the sweatband. On Stetsons, I think it's always or generally between the size tag at rear of sweatband and the Stetson logo on the sweatband.

Another Stetson Twenty Five I just got today from eBay auction. This one still has the 1951-1953 O.P.S. tag attached. Seeing this hat up for auction is what caused me to look again at my other Twenty Fives for tags.
