Thanks to @BobHufford for finding this great hat online. 50's 3X OR, Last Drop liner. This hat seems like new in all regards.

I'm really wanting to get a vintage open road for my collection. I found this hat but to me it looks too new. Is this hat from the 60's or 70's? Can someone help? It's priced at around $275

That’s a lot for a hat from the ‘60s or ‘70s. However, it’s a 7X Clear Beaver and those don’t grow on trees at any vintage. I don’t have this exact hat so I can’t speak to it’s qualities. I do know that at your size you should be able to find an older 3X or similar that will be a great hat.

I’d be willing to give the newer 7X CB a chance, but that’s just me. Although, it seems like top dollar for a hat in that size from that era...maybe make a lower offer?

It's a 7X Clear Beaver Quality Open Road, likely late 60's-early 70's with the box. There are OR's and 7X Clear Beavers but they didn't always cross paths. The two together is nice. The last of it's kind but still a very desirable hat. I have a similar one from the same era and am happy with it. My size. If you don't want it pm me the contact info.

Yeah I'm on the fence, it's going to cost me about $370 USD after shipping and duty as I'm in Canada. It looks absolutely mint though...

  6. Worth every bit of the $250-275 range price. You might stumble onto one in a Thrift store someday but it won't be Mint if that ever happens. Can you cross somewhere & pick it up?

I always look at it like I can make $275 back next wk but I can't find a 7XCB OR if I really want one.

Damn good thing. Found that straight away after your inquiry. Did my best to be polite. Ask my friends. Glad you got it. That is a good get and if you're not happy with it, pm me.

  9. Sounds like something Freewheelin' Franklin would say.

I figured it wouldn't be hard to find and knew asking you folks was a bit of a risk haha, thanks for letting me get it Bamaboots. It's my first vintage hat. Had a nice little quarrel with the wife for a few minutes before I wore her down enough so I won't be sleeping in the spare room tonight.

If I decide it's not for me I feel you are the rightful next owner so I will be sure to pm you

  11. All I can say is there's a reason why I don't hang out on the Lamborghini Owners Forum giving them advice.

Thanks. I will definitely post some photos and my thoughts on it when it arrives. This is really bad news, I have the bug now.

Not a cure, but regular doses of vintage felt is excellent treatment.

But Brent is the sly one. He gets a commission on every hat he can convince other people to buy. He's making a fortune!!!

Well, let's at least say that IF he got a commission, he'd be making a fortune!
