Mine looks like the younger brother of yours, Jim, since yours was made before the onion skin tips and before they were given the “Monroe” moniker?
The felt on this Fifteen ranks Higher than any hat I’ve had in my hand.
I’ve had but a few 50s and 60s Resistol fedoras, and it seems that all their felts were superlative.
The hand always smoother than others.
Years ago I had a summer weight, wide brimed Rolnick that I dearly liked, but gave to a preacher friend.
Since then I’ve been looking for one to replace that hat, and I think this one is one better.

Nice.
My first babysitters husband wore one just like this...I can almost smell his cigar looking at these pics.
Thank you.

I have strong memories conjured up by the smells emitted from these old hats every time an old, quality beaver hat comes my way. Both my grandpas wore fine, aromatic felts and even as a very young kid was romantically drawn to the idea of wearing them when I grew up. Pleasant smells can be lasting, powerful, influences.

Good get Brent!

It's the size tag that was stuck in the ribbon at the front of the hat when it was displayed on a shelf in the store. My X-Double-X San Antonio still had it there when I bought it ... I'm assuming it was never worn.

Ah, that makes sense. I’ve seen similar tags before. I didn’t check to see if the tag was attached or just tucked in. Thanks, Bob.

Resistol Sky Fleet. The felt is incredibly soft and pliable. More so than my late 50s Krushable and Christy's Rollaway.
I am suspecting the hat had some work done at one time as it has a size label from Quality Hat Works 1811 Grand Ave Kansas City, they were a hat renovator owned by Ezra Campbell

Very nice. Resistol knew how to make some dress hats, that's for sure, and good sleuthing on Quality Hat Works. Good pick up.
