Edward, that was probably the most interesting post in this whole thread.
Aw, shucks. Thank-you. Much of what I know I learned round here!

I’m really self conscious how I look. I just feel like the bowler needs a suit, and I don’t have one."I bought an Akubra bowler for the same reason-and I haven’t worn it!"
What are you waiting for? No time like the present! Not many Akubra bowlers show up here and we're interested to see how it looks. There is even a Bowlers and Derbies thread for just that kind of hat.
They all evolve....just some better than others.Interesting thread and Many have pointed out how the signify of every type of hat (the signifiant, in this instance) has evolved significantly over time. One pattern that repeats is that hats which began garments of relatively workaday or even universal usage slowly became semi-formal or even formal hats.

This post just about sums it all up Bowen. And...you look great in all styles!View attachment 372409 View attachment 372410 View attachment 372412 View attachment 372413 View attachment 372414 View attachment 372415 View attachment 372417 View attachment 372418 View attachment 372419

Yes, but the Richard Harris Dumbledore or the Michael Gambon Dumbledore? On second thought, never mind. I haven't even seen any of the Harry Potter movies; I just think Richard Harris and Michael Gambon were/are wonderful actors, so I'm a fan....Professor Albus Dumbledore
