One pair of genuine pre-Vietnam era US Army/Military issue, M1948 combat boots, size 9R issued to Francis L. Abney, s/n #16018672--Goodyear Wingfoot beveled heels, Plymouth Rubber Co. soles. These were issued, but obviously worn maybe once or twice for inspection as the little tiny ridges on the diamond soles aren't even worn off. Oddly these are not dated around the top, and if there was manufacturer's data on the interior of the boot, it was painted over with Abney's information. By the way, if one searches for Francis L. Abney, you'll see he was from East St. Louis, lived from November 25, 1921 -March 30, 1981, enlisted in the US Army on June 30, 1946, attained the rank of Sergeant, served in Korea, and so on...it is rather remarkable what you you can find out about someone on the internet.
In any case, not much to be said here; the boots nearly new and in perfect condition. The soles show almost zero evidence of being worn. There is no dry rot or any other issue. It would be virtually impossible to upgrade from these, aside from the unissued boots I have also listed here on The Fedora Lounge. Size is 9R and the fit is dead on to a 9R or 9D as I wear a perfect 9D size and these fit me perfectly.
