So, for those of you who may or may not know, I have decided to tie the knot. Angela and I have been dating for 3+ years and I figured it was time (she figured it was time...many months ago...)

Anyway, we are going to do the Vegas wedding (no Elvis) simply because Vegas is an equal distant point where my friends are and her friends are. We have been planning classic / traditional styles for everything.

Naturally, we are going to do the girls/guys night out the night before the wedding. However, we don't plan to party in a crazy way. We are both 30+ and were doing that 10 years ago.

My question is where are the best places in Vegas for cigars and martinis? I'm talking classic sitting back talking about old times (much like we do here) places. One year I was in Vegas and my uncle, dad and I went to Hamilton's in New York, New York Casino. We sat out on the balcony and listened to a guy sing Sinatra tunes and it was great. We had cigars & wine and felt no pressure, etc.. I am looking for places similar to The Havana Lounge that I posted earlier.

I have been to the "shoes only" clubs in Vegas and it didn't appeal to me. I intend to live it up and enjoy life while I am there. I am really looking forward to getting a shave from The Art of Shaving in Mandalay Place.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Pyro

I am not a Las Vegas expert.....but.....When I am looking for that vibe in Vegas, I dine at Morton's Steak House. They have fantastic food and play music from the golden era.

There is a place a bit out of town that I have been meaning to visit: http://www.casablancaresort.com/ They have a restaurant called Katherine’s that is supposed to be like Rick's Cafe American.

The martini and cigar thing in Las Vegas seems to be harder and harder to find. This also applies to the music of Golden Age of Vegas. Club owners refuse to believe there is a market for this. My wife and I live in Vegas, and we are constantly trying to find such a place. As a musician and entertainer, I have tried to convince people to give this concept a try, and all I get is dirty looks for my effort.

If you are coming to Las Vegas for a wedding, I have a suggestion. I am musical director of "The Tribute to Frank, Sammy, Joey and Dean" at the Greek Isles Hotel (try this URL http://72.29.12.159/index_flash.htm). The Hotel has a wedding chapel and you can treat everyone to the best Ratpack show in town (we are the only one with a live big band). Also, you can check my own website to see if and when my own band will be performing. You can find that at www.eeeo11.com.

Good luck in finding what you want, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

Fontana Bar at Bellagio. It's a small show room with little tables, and a couple of house bands play. They were really good the last time I was there in December. It also has a balcony with tables that overlooks Lake Bellagio where the dancing fountains are, although that takes you outside and away from the band.

There's also a bar at Paris called Napoleon's. A jazz ensemble plays and it's kinda dark (as I recall) with big, red leather chairs. Also has a stocked humidor. Here's a link:
