Thanks to Feraud for bumping up this old chestnut of a thread.

Here's a shot of one of my favorite Sterling single chains.

It has individually hallmarked "graduated" links:

Silver Fattorini.jpg

Signed by Thomas Fattorini of Birmingham on the reverse of the fob, it's also engraved "Westminster Cup 1933".

The chain nicely complements pocket watches having cases made of Sterling, Coin Silver, or dull nickel for that matter.

Thanks for resurrection of this thread, currently doing pocket watches so the chains / fittings bit has been most useful. I’ve paired a 60’s Popeye pocket watch with a Victorian Double Albert chain for my waistcoat and a 20’s Art Deco chain for my selvedge pocket when wearing vintage denim :)

The price of vintage watch chains is really climbing lately. The ****py stainless ones from Amazon are @ 20.
So last night I made these 2 for myself out of a vintage $5 thrift store solver plated byzantine rope chain necklace.

Birch Key watch chain t-bar.
Patented in 1883 by John S. Birch, the Birch key is a universal watch winding and setting key for keywind watches, utilizing spring loaded jaws .

Nice work. I quite like stainless steel myself if it's decently done, but this is particularly lovely.

On a holiday in Ireland last month to surprise my dad for his eightieth, he gifted me a fob that was worn on the chain of my great grandfather's watch in the 1910s. I'm not sure I'll ever quite have the nerve to risk wearing it in case I lose it, but it's lovely to have. Must get photos...

Thank you.
These are a few more I put together from recycled chains.

The small family heirlooms are such a great connection to our forebears.
I'm smoking a pipe right now I purchased on holiday in Ireland in 2005 and wearing my great grandfather's c. 1900 watch chain given to me by my father, who passed back in November.
And I'm wearing a Stetson Premier Stratoline I purchased for him several years ago in his memory.

Nice Stetson Stratoliner ... is that hat's color what's known as "Silver Belly"?

The pocket watch's bow has an unusual orientation, is it Swiss or English?

Just bought a gold-filled Simmons brand pocket watch chain. It has a small auxiliary chain for a Fob, and I thought I'd attach a small whistle to it. Might be useful in an emergency.

One of the links is marked "15" with unknown marks on both sides of the "15". From research, this "likely" indicates a chain made prior to the 1930s.
