I’ve had this Stetson No. 1 Quality hat for a couple of months, but only recently have I suspected it’s older than the seller claimed.

This first photo is the true color:

What a great score! Beautiful colors, and the brim is perfection.

Am thinking that’s about a 7” crown and 3 3/4” brim with curl. Did you curl it Brent?

The crown is over 6 1/2” but I’m not sure it’s a full 7”. You’re spot on with the 3 3/4” brim (when uncurled). The hat came with the curled brim edge and all I’ve done is change the crease a bit.

Any guesses on date of manufacture?

Jack, i know nothing of this brand but this hat makes me wanna learn more. The ribbon is sublime and by far my favorite style across the board. As always spectacular presentation.

Thanks Bowen. I own 3 of their hats hand dated 1991, 1992 & 1995. They are all comparable in quality. One of the TX FL members has at least 1 also; maybe Rick. They were a Resistol product & I do believe they were hand finished, so the Worth-Walden name would be under the HATCO umbrella today. 913 W. Jefferson, Dallas, TX. One of mine was sold thru Barnett's Western Store. The other 2 retailers are unmarked. I would certainly buy another one if it fit my requirements.

I like those colors Brent. I may have to get Phoenix to make me a copy.

This shouldn’t be a hard hat for you to find on the vintage market. I just trimmed the brim back, re-creased the crown, and ironed then shaped the brim. I don’t know if Rick has access to this color felt...a chestnut with a dose of brick.
