New to me vintage shop score, Stetson 3X Beaver Quality, late 50's / early 60's?

Real fluke, I've been looking for this exact hat for a few years, found it at my favorite Montreal vintage shop on my annual trip home. This shop normally doesn't stock vintage hats, in fact it's the first I've seen there in the decades I've been stopping in. My exact size, perfect 7, LO by design or by wear, the felt is impeccable, but the sweatband is shot, I'm dropping it in to Chapeaux Henri Henri to be replaced. And all for CDN $70.00 (USD $50.00).

Funny thing is it already had my favorite crease, it's a bit damp here with a flattened brim after getting caught in a downpour, I put some curl back in the sides and it dried out and stiffened into its perfect classic crease again.

The wax sold to wax canvas has a lot of beeswax and oils. It keeps the canvas supple, but it also stays a bit greasy or oily feeling. At least it does here in a warm moist climate. It is also prone to mold if you do not keep an eye on it. Common paraffin of a medium melting point will make the canvas stiff, but with a hard slick finish. It's fine for canvas but I wouldn't put either one of them on felt. You'd play hell trying to get it back out.

New arrival today. Very little to go by except “Hastings” California embossed on the sweat and a tag behind the sweat.
Arminto style with 6 cord ribbon and 3 cord ribbon sewn to underside of brim.
A big un with 7” open crown and 3 1/2” brim. Excellent quality felt easily shaped.
I’m not much of an expert on identifying or guessing on the maker.

From what little I can find Hastings Clothing Company was established in 1854.

This San Francisco store built in 1907-08.

Not sure how long the store existed but found couple references to the 40’s - 50’s.
