I have sort of had a hankerin to have a Stetson western turned into the sort of wide brimmed, Homburg-styled western that Tim Oyliphant wore in Deadwood. Who would you guys recommend that I could send a Stetson to for the brim to be curled and the hat to be blocked that'a way?

Knudsen Hats would do it, too, and probably Montana Peaks Hats.

Grommets?

100% natural beaver custom made:

Crown front 5" back 4". Brim 4" with a pencil curl. The wind string slide is antler. This is a reproduction (or copy) of the hat Brad Pitt wore as Tristan in the movie "Legends Of The Fall". Tough as nails it is my go to hat in nasty weather.

Do the holes for the stampede string on this hat have grommets in them, or are they just punched into the felt?

there's a picture of an 1898 Campaign hat with an extra layer of felt AND a grommet. That's what I'd like to do on an 1898 hat for me. I don't know if the common grommets will go through two layers or not.

More specifically, that is an Elko style hat which is vaquero/buckaroo style.
Elko = low, telescope creased crown, wide flat brim with slightly snapped rear brim.
