My first Master Hatters of Texas (MHT). This is their 4X Beaver. I had a AHC liner that I threw in that is obviously not original to that hat. I bought this hat mostly out of curiosity as I had never owned a MHT hat. The felt is thick and not particularly dense. The hand is on the rough side. The crown isn’t very stiff/firm, but it needs steam to be shaped. All in all, I’d say it’s a step down from the similar 3-5X Beaver hats from Resistol and Stetson from the same era. Nothing wrong with the hat, but I won’t be tempted to buy a similar hat in the future.

Third time's a charm on this Bradford Western refurb. This is my third blocking on this hat on two different blocks. The first blocking was on my RA and the crown came out looking like a pyramid. I took it apart again and tried blocking it on a #52. Still didn't look right. The third time I went back to my RA and left it on the block for three days. This time it worked out. The hat started out as a too small size 7. It's now blocked up to a 7 1/4. I gave it a simple Cattleman crease and recurled the 3 1/2 brim. I replaced the original 6 ply ribbon with a single ply thin ribbon, which I like better for this hat. I have other plans for the 6 ply ribbon.

Great work, Terry. The straight-sided crown looks fantastic, and the smooth flow of the brim is perfect.
