I took piano lessons as a child (7, 8 years old?) and, briefly, guitar as an adolescent. Neither stuck, I'm sorry to say.Your profile picture reminded me of another one I've seen. Do you play a guitar?

Thank you. Not sure what Stetson called it but I have described the color as a red roan.Wow, impeccable, what a rare and amazing colour!
OK, I'm not much on high fenders but that' a cool dang hat and you wear it well Mr. V.Newest addition to the EDW (Every Day Wear) stable is this late-60s vintage 3X Stetson. It has a 3.5” bound brim, a 6.5” open crown, (5.5” at the front crush as shaped), a 6-ply band, and is in what I think they were calling “sorrel tan” back then.
The hat was sold originally by “Big 44 Western Store”, which operated here in Boise from the late 60s to 1991. Fun factoids about Big 44: it was on the same street as the Goodwill Store where I picked up the hat after winning an auction, less than a half mile down the road. Sometime after it closed, the building was occupied by “Cattle Kate’s”, another western-wear store (now located about 7 miles away), which I have frequented both in person, and on-line, for cowboy shooting clothing. And, after Kate’s, it was (and still is) occupied by the morons who completely screwed up the installation of our first koi pond back in Caldwell. Small-world-stuff abounds!
I can’t find an exact match for it in the catalog files. Back in ’57, it would have hit all the markers for a Longhorn, but by the mid 60’s, that model name was being used for a completely different hat, and so I have another “unnamed” member of the family. I’m thinking of simply calling it “Big 44.”
