What’s your best hanger for leather jackets?

I’ve had my jackets on hangers similar to this for years.

Then, probably unnecessarily, I decided to use some old carpet and T-shirts I had to upgrade them (not pretty, but effective). Not sure that was even necessary. This is the result of that exercise.

But now I’m thinking it might be fun just to make some of my own hangers, considering that I like to work with wood.

Quite a serious assembly here. I’m sure the jacket feels pampered as hell on this thing.

It’s definitely overkill. I had this carpet laying around, so I thought why not, I might as well use it for something. But the edges on the ends were sort of sharp, so I repurposed some old T-shirts to keep the sharp edges from damaging the lining..

Pool noodle ones have been working well for me. Also the OEM Y'2 hangers are lovely - heavy and wide and they look lovely.
The Y2 ones are great, though I think they stopped providing them? This is a great thread as I am needing to DIY something sooner than later as well.

24" of pool noodle on 1" dia dowel rods

The padding overhanging the dowel rod is supposed to prevent any creasing near the shoulder. Might not help. Couldn't hurt.

I roll, fold and ball-up the jacket (and leave it laying in a chair) as much as possible, but sometimes it needs to get put up and out of the way.

Saw this old thread and couldn’t resist adding that I’ve had good luck with wide curved wooden suit hangers from Mainetti lately. They’re not fancy cedar, but the shoulder support is great and they’re easier to find in stock. Has anyone tried the padded hangers some makers recommend, or do they cause creasing over time?

Don’t use hangers. Keep your jackets in a pile.
Doesn’t that cause creasing in the leather from the weight of the jackets stacked on top? How many jackets would you say is the maximum you should stack?
I actually have a small wardrobe just for my leather jackets — only the shearling ones are stored lying on top of each other.

My shearlings stored flat and leather on wide hangers, hangers basically two wooden quality ones taped together and covered in bubble wrap

Have you already used the ones with wide shoulder supports? Usually one of those hangers is enough. Even so, your solution sounds interesting.

Have purchased the wide shoulder support hangars but felt I needed more for my A-2’s. Two decent wooden hangars with bubble wrap gives me more confidence

What’s the advantage of using bubble wrap on the hanger? It’s best to keep the jacket’s shape?

I use a simple hanger from aero Leather…Purchased with the Hooch hauler. It does his job, i think :) for sure way better than normal hangers that have Steeper angles

From amazon, I bought "TOPIA HANGER Unfinished American Red Cedar Wood Coat Suit Hangers, Luxury Wooden Jacket Clothes Hangers, Wide Shoulder with Black Padded Pant Bar- 360°Flexible Hook, 4 Pack- Natural- CT07W" Mine arrived in fine condition, but some buyers report some hangars were damaged.
Should be an easy fix to glue a broken hanger; likely far less hassle than returning them.

My experience with the aero hangers is that they are excellent if the jacket's shoulders measure max 17.75inch. Anything above 18-18.50 and they are dangerous to your jacket.

Ah ok, my jacket (in size 36, so pretty small) is under that measure…so i can use it with no problem

I have Aero hangers but taking a 48 chest shoulders need more support IMHO
I was wondering how the Aero hangers worked on larger jackets, looks like I'll be looking for another option or will make my own.

Hi, Is the danger to the jacket due to the angle of the hanger arm being too horizontal, as opposed to hanger arms with a steeper angle will create lesser risk of creasing? Thank you.
