My Mister singing on Saturday early evening (sigh). We were just hanging out watching the DVD of Hollywood Musicals, the 1950's and when "Our Love is Here to Stay" as danced by Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron with Gene doing the vocal came on, he started singing it. I chimed in of course. A sweet moment, the two of us snuggled together on the couch watching numbers from old musicals. The we went out onto the back deck as the sun was going down and practiced dancing, including a few moves we'd just seen in a couple of the movies. Ah, llfe is good.
Del Shannon Runaway from a show called 'the Golden Age of Rock and Roll" - excerpted from a 1964 - 1965 syndicated television series entitled "Hollywood a Go-Go", which originated from KHJ-TV (now KCAL-TV) in Los Angeles.
I call KCAL the Police Chase Channel because whenever there is one on the freeway KCAL is one of the stations that always covers it.

Erik Satie -Gymnopédie No.1 (piano) It's great late night--or in this case, early morning--listening.
Here's the best singer you've never heard of. He's singing this old Etta James standard at the Grand Ole Opry. He's not really what I consider a country singer although he fronted the The Mavericks, who had a few hits on the country charts back in the 90's, for a few years. He sings songs from virtually every genre. Go to YouTube and check out some of his other videos. This guy can sing up a storm. "California Blue" is one of my favorites. I enjoy the way he brings the listener along.
George Harrison’s spirituality really came through in his music. “Stuck Inside a Cloud" off of his last album is a good example of this. He also did a pretty nice version of “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” on it, complete with ukulele and tuba. The “All Things Must Pass” album is as good today as it ever was. I could list great songs from it, but I’d be listing 7 or 8.
I'm really excited about Nick Lowe's new record coming out in September. He's better now than he ever was as a young man. Amazing. Here's a sample from each of his last 4 records.
