What clear coat can I use on straw

Just curious what a good clear coat would be to use on a white straw western hat (I define western hat as having an almost fedora-like pinch front crown and 3" brim that is straight on the sides and back and downturned in front). Anyway, the coating is coming off under the front brim and I'm just wondering if there is a flexible clear coat I can put on to stop it from peeling more. The hat has a glossy clear coat of some kind all over and the part that is coming off shows matte white straw underneath.
