Here is the comparison of my two Playboys I posted in the Side By Side thread last year. The Playboy was introduced in 1934.

I have no way to date this hat with accuracy - my guess would be a four year spread centered on 1950. The Playboy became a very popular brand for Stetson - it was likely produced in many configurations over its twenty something year run. Haven't seen enough early models but I don't remember a pre-1940 example with the stitch that we see in later years.

Thanks guys. The granite felt really makes the blue "pop." The felt is pounced wonderfully and it fits like a dream, to boot.

A nice cool morning here and should be decent all day for a change. I did some washing on this old Stetson 3X and dried it on a block,

Still needs some work on the ring around the telescope, but I thought I would try it today with a center crease and small side dents like I've been noticing in some movies from the 30s that I've watched recently.

The side dents are too big compared to the kisses in the movies, but will do for today's wearing

Have to see if I can get some bicycle time in today and downtown concert coming again tonight. Hope it all works out.

    Have a fine Friday,
    Michael

I'll have to search that out. Probably too small is why I passed it by. Nice ones go for major bucks.

The Champ looks great! Can't wait to see the detail/noggin shots of your new beauties in transit. I have a Dobbs Twenty from the Golden Coach logo era and it is very nice quality.

Thin ribbons rule on these full dimension Gannons! Love the contrast on this one Jim.

I might just have to steal this design too.

It is good to see some Alley Cat action on the Lounge. Looks like a nice finish to this one.

Ahhhh, my inspiration. In all it's evergreen splendor, my day is now complete!

I am going to study study study. I need to be less lazy in my search activities before forcing my friends to fulfill my dumb questions. Thank you Alan, I think I'll savor this with some Schnapps in my coffee on my sunny deck, stealing images with aplomb.

Clean machine Michael. The pinch is just right and gives just enough accent to the crease. I like it with that snazzy jacket. You are always an inspiration.

I have a borsalino, on the inside of the hat it says COD: 1122, COL: 0421, 14P002561 are you able to tell what model this is? It has a 3 inch brim and a 4 1/2 crown.

Weather is again temperate in the Bay Area. From my Optimo collection, this hat is Bottle Green with a different bow. The crease is teardrop as you can see

I'm doing well, and you. Fighting a summer cold that I got from my cast during the show over the last few weeks. I'm winning the battle though.

Thanks for the compliment. I did not know the term for the ribbon treatment but now I do.
