Thanks tommyK. It's basically my first try at shaping an open crown hat. I wanted to do something quick and easy and a cattleman crease was the ticket. It's far from perfect, but that's ok since I'll probably be doing a lot of tinkering with this hat.

I've been wearing my BSHW Limey hat today. Bob is the man for western straw hats (for less $$ than the ****py Shantung hats in the local western stores, too!)

This evening I have been wearing my vtg. Stetson bowler. This is really an "oldster."

Eric, that bowler turns heads. Stunning! I love the crown height!! Terrific purchase. :thumb:

Like the wider ribbon. To tell you the truth the tall crown + wide brim soft felts popular here draw more attention than siff felt hats.

moon and Trevi--thanks for the comments on the VS. It is a sweet hat, perfect for the summers here by the NorCal coast.

Thanks my dear Friend.. I have a big selection of felt hats ... but I recently moved from Connecticut to Florida , so I'm trying to get as much straws as I can because of the weather here . But I also love my Felts....

Thank you for the advice. Both my shantungs were very very cheap (both fished from the bay).
Nice looking hat but I wouldn't go for a green one.
