Getting to know my new Aero 30’s HB from TB. I love it! Weighs in at 5.3lbs. Just the same weight as my former tumbled CXL highwaymane with the streak down the back. I think my previous experiences with vic must’ve been lighter hides. These last two have really won me over. Remember that guy who used only talk about CXL and how vic sucked and blah, blah, blah. What a dick. LOL. Anyway couple fit pics. Not sure why I have the Cybil Shepard Moonlighting glow happening but you can see it’s got some heft. It’s also got one helluva a front drop. 3” by my measure. Better color rep in the last pic. I haven’t pulled the tag yet as I was debating on going in for a custom Sea biscuit. I’ve decided this one stays and the biscuit happens later.

EDIT https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/5-zipper-on-heavy-hides-4-oz.98196/page-2

The NOS number 5 Talon failed me this morning. I had these happen before. The old zips needs extra love when starting the zip. If the pin doesn't go in all the way at the start, this happens. I've also freaked out about it before and done more unnecessary damage. Best is to just pull the jacket together at the bottom end and slowly move the zip down, one teeth at a time. Whew...

Awesome jackets but they SERIOUSLY need to stop using these for a main zipper. That's a pocket zip at best.

That particular Talon is hands down the worst. I have that on my red and black wool HB and even on a wool jacket, it’s a nightmare. I would rather put on as many layers as possible to avoid that zipper. Is this what your pull looks like?

I agree with Ivan. A pocket zipper at best. Maybe only good for a coin purse.

Aero should give some of us a option like this, install zipper by ourself (with some discount of course)

I think the problem Is these vintage repro and NOs zips just can’t handle the weight of these hides. Even Stu who uses big ass #10’a has shit luck with old zips. Only way to go with heavy leather is brand spanking new #10 YKK. Pull might not excite but that is the most bomb proof zipper ever made. The jacket will disintegrate before that zipper fails.
