Taxi Driver Tanker. Not, alas, the expensive Real McCoys version. Instead, a cheap one I picked up about fifteen years ago from an eBay seller (SpearHead Militia; think they're out of business now). Not gotten around to having the Bickle T legend stenciled on the back - I will one day. Patches and lining per the one Bob Deniro wore in the film. Perfect light weight jacket for wearing out to see Stiff Little Fingers at the weekend, first day in London this year when an overcoat was not required.

Just acquired a cactus label Schott 618 One Star from a friend on the Facebook Schott group. This is a size 36. Awhile back I posted about finding my old 618 that I originally bought in 1977. It had been packed away in an old closet seemingly gone forever. It's a size 34 and happily still fits me, although somewhat tight with just a tshirt. This one fits much better, and I couldn't be more thrilled. Did a little reconditioning with Bick 4 and it drank it all in and woke up nicely. View attachment 777020 View attachment 777021

Thanks. Seeing that photo on my big screen instead of my phone now, I realise I've got something of his thousand yard stare there - that's what happens when you get home late morning off the overnight boat and head right out to a gig same evening, ha!

I love Stiff Little Fingers, but I had no idea they were still around.

They did originally split in 83, then reformed in 87 for a few gigs here and there. IIRC, former Tom Robinson Band drummer Dolphin Taylor (who'd played drums on the last SLF album in the 80s) was on drums then. By 91 when they put out Flags and Emblems and decided to make a go of it full time again, Ali McMordie stepped down from bass duties. Ali was involved in a lot of other industry gigs (producer on the Peace Together projects, tour manager for Moby, and occasional bass player in Moby's band among them), and couldn't commit full time. Bruce Foxton (ex of the Jam), with whom Jake had been in a band briefly in the mid eighties, played bass for some years until Ali re-joined in 2006 - initially just for a tour, then permanently. Ian McCallum (ex The Alarm) replaced Henry Cluney on rhythm guitar in 93. Henry was by all accounts kinda jaded with the reunion thing by that point; remarks that have been made over the years show there's no loved lost there (the usual "mutual decision" - get out / stuff you I was leaving anyhow situation seems to have been the root of it). Dolphin Taylor was replaced by Steve Grantley on drums in 96. There's been a lot of line-up changes here and there, though most members have lasted quite a while. Jake's the one constant (though as their primary writer...) Some (Henry Cluney, mostly!) have insisted they're not the same band with those changes, but hey... they're still active, still writing and recording, so...

They've scaled back touring a lot to a couple of short outings in the year (annual UK tour mid-March, big Belfast gig every August); Jake's said this is a nod to them all hitting their mid Sixties and wanting to slow down so they can keep going for longer. They've lost none of their fire live, though. Still well worth seeing.

Simmons Bilt again today. And a chambray shirt that started out in ~2009 about as dark as I've ever seen a blue chambray. Definitely got my money's worth out of that one over the years

Right??! This is how I feel nearly every time I wear any of my leather, canvas or wool jackets around anywhere. And it's only getting more so. Long live the -- Soft-shell fleece? Will those be collector's items in ~ 40-50 years?
