What Size are You Poll

Is it really that we have bigger heads than they did back then? Or is it that there's less 7 1/2 hats and larger around from that era for sale today because it's a popular size?

That is probably the fact of the matter. The most common sizes may have been literally worn to death.

I recall seeing a documentary show on PBS about medievel armor in which the curator of the collection at The Tower of London was interviewed. He said that the common belief that men were much smaller back then, was a myth. He said that the common sized stuff simply wore out or was destroyed in battles. Only very small, and also very large sizes survive today because they were not worn as much.

Sometimes Medium, sometimes Large.

It's interesting to watch the poll results take on the curve of a graph. Looks like 7-1/2 will be the majority,... and hence hardest to find?

On the other end of the spectrum, there are some people here who have a head size that is amenable to finding some really cool hats for a cheap price.

There seems to be a perfect bell curve in the results, or would be if you had sizes like 6 5/8 and 6 3/4, which are probably no more common than 7 7/8 and 8.
