"Island of Terror" - I saw this Hammer Horror as a kid. It gave me nightmares for weeks and wasn't able to each chicken soup for years afterwards. Anybody's that seen the flick knows what I mean...

People these days don't appreciate the old horrors, especially Hammer and their competitor Amicus.
I think I've seen IOT but I can't remember.
If I have it on DVD, I'll need to re watch it.
But not while I'm eating.

The Apartment is a great film, from a wonderful period in films.
Mainly because Lemmon is one of my favorite actors.

I started Super 8, but a few things came up this evening and I had to stop the movie.
Maybe tomorrow night.

Just watched Amadeus. I'd forgotten what an excellent movie this was and how well F. Murray Abraham played the part of Salieri. He thoroughly deserved his oscar.

Wonderful movie.

I have watched it many times and own a copy of it. The incredible cinematograhy is what first caught my eye. Jack Lemmon and Shirley Maclaine are wonderful as is Fred MacMurray as a heel. The story is sweet, funny, and entertaining. It is for me, one of those stop, drop, and watch movies.

I received TMC and Showtime for free this weekend. Not one movie worth watching! I ended up watching a Disney movie because it was snowing and I could not work on any of my motorcycles and I refuse to pay for a movie over the satellite.

Great point on the cinematography - the movie would not be as powerful in color and the B&W is, as you noted, gorgeously done. There were several movies like this at the time, "Two for the Seesaw," "The Children's Hour" and even "Breakfast at Tiffany's" - you can see the industry transitioning (slowly) from 1950s fluff like "Pillow Talk" (which I enjoy for what it is) to these gritty movies.

I saw that too.
As the wife and I went through each day's guide, we saw NOTHING worth watching.
This supports my decision 2yrs ago, of dropping all the movie channels.
Plus, with so many outlets these days (amazon, Netflix, red box, etc) you don't need the movie channels.
Do the math, it's WAY cheaper to get a movie you want to see from the outlets I listed, than to pay monthly for the channels (in the hopes that movie will show up).
Maybe it's the package I have, but I get Sony's movie channel, IFC, and something else that shows movies.
I've found many good flicks there.

"The Sea Wolves" with Peck, Niven, Moore (007), and a dozen other famous British aging character actors. Good solid entertainment, even if some of the actors weren't used enough, such as MacNee (Steed) for instance.

I read an article about her and the discovery of her photographs some time ago. I'd live to see the documentary. Is it available on any streaming service?
