i was lucky enough the other day to win the auction for this Cavanagh hat im really excited says it has a 2 inch brim and 2 inch ribbon ( i think misread this originally thanks brad) I cant wait till it arrives
now the long wait begins :-D
also does anyone have an estimate of age?
how does the quality of cavanaghs stack up against other hat brands such as say knox?

Cavanagh hats, at least through the mid-to-late-Sixties, were a top of the line hat, and had been since their introduction in 1928. If you were famous, well-to-do, or both (or wanted to pretend you were), you bought Cavanaghs. The quality was first rate.

Your hat looks to be from the Sixties, judging from the styling. However, if that's a three-inch ribbon, then it has a nine-inch crown! That's more likely a two-inch, maybe 2 1/4 ribbon, though two-inch is pretty standard for Cavanagh. The brim looks to be 1 1/2-inch to 1 7/8 inch.

well the hat arrived today to my surprise, fastest shipping ive ever experienced. on to the hat I love it!
the felt is so supple yet strong when it put it on my head its like a feather. The brim did end up being 1 7/8 which looks great.
condition is outstanding it looks hardly worn the price tag is still inside and says the color is mink.
it came from a hat store called Jacobsons in new york city
does anyone know about this particular store?
i cant seem to find any information.
anyways i cant speak enough of the quality of cavanaghs now i understand why they end up in such bidding wars on ofas. Fight on the battle is worth it
