wrongly placed pocket on my Highwayman!

I have a Highwayman with pockets on both sides and now the resulting creases and popper showing through (it was bought a number of years ago from the sale page). I don't think it makes much difference which side it is on.

Generally, personal issues with a maker are better dealt with on a one-to-one basis than on an open board - as a Mod would tell you if they were here.

Just to say I have always had great service fro Aero and Holly in-particular and am polite at all times when emailing with her. It must be said though I have detected a slight irritation in her last email!

Thanks Mark... I've emailed you explaining why there's been a delay in getting back to you, I'm waiting for word from production about the feasibility of some of your requests.

I'll add there was no irritation in my previous mail, merely pointing out that these problems are exactly the reasons we do discourage people from requesting inside pockets! Just an explanation, not bad feeling.

Yes I know have said so more than once! My post is not a complaint against Aero, my fault entirely!

Yes, I kind of agree, a quick call/email to clarify with me would have saved a lot of bother. I can't help think production would have known the consequences of a pocket under a pocket! However, must accept my responsibility. Hopefully Holly will sort out for me and perhaps my experience may help Aero and other customers in the future to avoid this problem.

Well my Aero 30s half-belt is clearly an exception to the rule since the inside pocket is on the right (and, of course, the outside ****** pocket is on the left ) --hence no imbalance at all. This was a standard sale jacket, the pockets were not so placed at my request. Although I am right-handed I don't have to have the dexterity of a circus contortionist in order to fish stuff out of the inside pocket.....
This is clearly an issue for you -so get it changed.

Must have been specced by aomebody... the standard for that model is no inside pockets.

My highwayman had one of its two inner pockets behind the outer ****** pocket. All the jackets I have ever bought have had that arrangement. The creases that result are fairly normal, and the thing is, after all, a utility piece as opposed to a fashion item. Subsequent aeros I have ordered I have asked for the inner pockets to be excluded- I rarely use them and prefer less weight. Your best bet is probably getting the snaps removed and the pocket 'lip' cut out and replaced with a hard-wearing material lip. In items this expensive, specification is key.

Yes but since most here don't use the jacket for its intended purpose it qualifies as the later.

It would be interesting to find out what 'fixes' are available- it's only my view, but I reckon that fqhh is too heavy a hide for inner pockets- at least if an uncreased outer appearance is desired. My one Aero steer hide with inner pockets has not developed any external creasing, but I do not know if this is due to the hide or not.

A lot of the steer is heavier than the FQHH. Neither is too heavy for an interior pocket--in my opinion. I have the interior pockets on both heavy steer and FQHH, with no problems.

I feel your pain. My M200 from Johnson Leather has only one inside pocket and it's on the right side only because I remembered to request it that way. I've had plenty of suits and sport coats and the default inside pocket placement is to the left. I'm glad I remembered to request a right inside pocket because, for some reason, it's more natural for me to pull the jacket open with my right (dominant) hand and reach in with the left.
I have a jacket coming at the end of this month. This time I went for two (horizontal) inside pockets (with snaps), for wallet and cell.
For what it's worth, I hardly ever use the outside chest pocket anyway, so the whole "bulge" issue is moot.

When I spoke to Alan at Johnson Leather he said the default inside pocket position is on the opposite side of the chest pocket. That's certainly how mine came and I didn't ask for this. I personally don't mind which side it's on.

I prefer the version, "God is in the details." Somehow it seems more positive. I picture an artisan grimacing as he works in the former and smiling as he works in the later.

Mn. I've got inside pockets in both my fqhh jackets, and never had a problem or any show through (though in truth, I don't think that would bother me anyhow).

I think it's the use of FQHH trim on the inside pocket that contributes to any "show-through" of the pocket outline. Horizontal or vertical, if the trim is thick, stiff FQHH, eventually the indent or "ghost" outline of the inner pocket could start to show over time (and use).
If one were truly concerned about pocket trim "show-through", I suppose one option is to request a thinner leather (goatskin?) trim around an inner pocket, or even opting for cloth (cotton or canvas) trim.
