Hello ladies!

I have a wedding coming up in a couple of months and just received the 50s style dress that I had custom made for me by someone on Etsy.... it is in fact horrible and I am now in a bit of a panic starting my search all over again!

So - to inspire me to push on in my search for a dress, I thought perhaps there are some other vintage brides out there who'd like to share their looks on the big day? I thought some of you might be interested in talking about vintage wedding fashion. I did a search, but couldn't find any threads on this topic!

This is a picture of the dress that I had made in off-white satin, with a full circle skirt rather than a pencil... unfortunately it just wasn't right :(

Oh! thanks LD! I did think it was strange I couldn't find a wedding thread... haha. oops. But that first link doesn't work for me?

Oh I wish I could afford a candy anthony or joanne fleming dress.... unfortunately we're getting married on a really really tiny budget, so I'm having to be a bit thrifty about this! I'm thinking about going to the vivien of holloway boutique in London the next time I'm heading there, to have a look... I've quite liked this one for a while

since I'm not averse to wearing something other than white! I'm even slightly contemplating a red dress...

I'll be getting married in a vintage suit at the courthouse. No wedding to speak of. I suppose that's rather "vintage"? ;D

Aww thanks! ALLL THANKS TO MY WONDERFUL STYLIST :D

yeah, ashegawa you really looked stunning! :) love the hair and red lips! And like that you went for red shoes as well.

These will hopefully be my wedding shoes... if I can get the pair I bought exchanged for a smaller size. They're a 40s repro pair made by a small British designer for London Fashion Week and I snapped them up on ebay. I'm waiting to hear back if he has a smaller size *fingers crossed*.

and this is the dress I am contemplating wearing.... I know it's not a "wedding dress", but our wedding will be so informal and small and more of a fun celebration with friends, so I thought it might be fine... it's made by Dig For Victory (www.digforvictoryclothing.com). I'm thinking of wearing it with an ivory lace bolero and ivory gloves. I love the floral version of this dress that she also makes, but my fiance seems to have a bit of an aversion to florals, so.... the red it is!
