Nice looking vaquero hats.

Does anyone think she looks like the wolf biologist & behavioral specialist that is frequently consulted for various programs on TV? But I was thinking the wolf biologist lives in MN? Can they be the same person?

Its possible . You know wolves were (supposedly) extinct in the lower 48 except for Minnesota , N. Michigan , ME , and a few packs coming into MT from Canada , until the USFWS , and all the other alphabet soup regulatory agencies reintroduced them (being on the endangered species list) , but they're off it now . She looks like a crazy Wildlife Biologist (/Mad Scientist) University Type . She may have met that guy in MT (Operating a Dental Floss Factory) and he liked the UT , ID , MT Buckaroo Vaquero Style . She looks kind of crazy to me . A couple of Nuts fell off the tree in my family , and became College Professors . ... Back to the Montana Rio Hat Company , Nice Vaquero Style Hats , I think I have heard of them before , but never had any personal knowledge . You have several types of Cowboys in Montana , those influenced by those coming in from the SW through AZ to UT , ID , and on into MT , and those that came from Texas , some of that has mixed . I can still remember smelling the feed lots in Kansas (100-200 miles before getting there) . St Joseph Mo , and Salinas KS , I think , where the big Rail points were and the Beef was driven during the big Cattle Drives , then on East by Rail .
... nice Hats , if you like that style , but others make them , too , but they seem like an honest outfit , doing good work .

Hello all, I'm new, I posted my introduction here: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/new-ladies-and-gents-step-forward.13888/page-220
I asked in that post for some good hat shops in Antwerp Belgium, and also some nice shops where I can get clothes in the style of the 1920s, can anyone help?
Or are there no hat shops anymore in Antwerp, because I searched, with Googles help, for some nice hat shops, but I can't find any.
Maybe someone from this forum has some insight information?

Well, our very own Esther Weiss is in Antwerp and makes hats! You should look her up and have her make you one.

Or a dozen.

OT Michael, but here is a younger picture of the wolf biologist I was thinking of. Don't know if she is the same woman or not but there is a resemblance I think.

What is Crown Heigth? I am looking at a Borsalino Fedora for sale at "Hats in the Belfry" with 4" crown which seemed a bit short. But maybe I do not understand hat sizes. Is Crown height:
a. The height between the brim and the very top of an open crown?
b. The height between the brim and the highest point of a creased crown (like one of the ridges)?
c. The inside of the hat from the brim to where the top of you hear touches the top of the at?

I am guessing it is B.... but not sure.

4" crown height would be the height of the crown ... most likely front from break to peak of a bashed crown

do yourself a favor and buy an open crown hat

I agree. Hats in the Belfry will lose your interest FAST if you are really being bitten by the hat bug!

I am really thinking that a Campdraft should be a person new to fedora hats best first hat. Why? Price, overall quality, looks, will be like a Timex Watch, (take a beating and still keep ticking) and is a good hat to learn how to bash and take care of.

I think you're RIGHT HJ ! Looks like it could be her , I know after they reintroduced wolves into MT there was a Big Study . And the population exploded pretty fast and spread . I'm sure with all the work they've done and are still doing studying the packs , she moved . And got older . Do you think the nose and chin , eye set are the same ? The more I look the less I think that's her .

We had a friend that was a member of a car club my Husband was the President of about 12 years ago, that had a super large female Canadian Wolf. They obtained it from a Trucker that picked it up. It was a constant battle for them to keep the Wolf, but this Wolf being raised by them was a big sissy. If it stood up on it's hind legs, the head would be way above my Husband's head but it would only want to lick you and acted like a big puppy, very non aggressive and shy for the most part. They had to install a extra strong gauged fence around their entire back yard for "safety" concerns regarding the governmental agencies that came into the picture and each year those agencies wanted to have the Wolf destroyed! The only thing that kept that from happening was one of the Judges in the case had my Husband speak to him and had the Judge actually visit this Wolf. Needless to say, off the record, the Judge actually made the statement he would LOVE to be able to own such a fantastic animal as that Wolf. Now of course not all Wolves would be this timid or friendly to everyone. But I have since then witnesses that some Wolves will allow a human to get up close and not be aggressive.

Our friend's Wolf lived to be 10 years old before it passed away. I wish I had some pictures to share of it, Wolves are some very beautiful animals. Even though this Wolf was big by the normal standards of how female Wolves are generally smaller, this one was huge!

Not sure how Wolves and Hats got into the mix, but hey, if you can LOVE a HAT, you can love a Wolf, too! Just be REALLY careful about some of those "2 legged Wolves" out there! Hahaha!

In another thread Michael R referenced the videos by Hats by the Hundred of their Akubras, so of course I had to go watch a few. Now I think I need an Akubra bowler I saw in a video, but they do not seem to be available from the Web sites. Has anyone seen one of these lately or have they been dropped from the current line up?
