Another no hat day for me.

Thanks to all for your wishes. Good news is that after 10 hours in hospital around midnight on Friday, they concluded I did not have appendicitis but that I did have an infection with some 20 letter name. They let me go yesterday evening with a bunch of medicine and told me to rest.

Again, the wonderful hats you have been sporting have been a real pleasure!

Something like that, I wonder.
When diverticulosis flares up and becomes inflamed, we call it diverticulitis. Whichever name they use, the condition is the same. Unfortunately, it's becoming increasingly more common.
At any rate, don't feel compelled to confirm nor deny anything here if you don't want to.

Hope you get to feeling well soon.

Looks like a nice, modern upgrade. Just please don't wear your beret like that. That looks really sloppy. Please shape it properly.

A good shave and wet shape takes a beret from a wool pizza to a crown any commando would be proud of.

Agreed. Although I must say, the problem most of the guys have with the change is that we aren't commandos haha. Plus the theme of the order has always been nautical, rather than infantry. I've seen some funny zingers on social media about the update: "Boy Scouts of Columbus," "Knights of the British Boarding School," "Insurance Salesmen of Columbus"...

I'm kind of meh about it since I show up to most ceremonial events wearing my Franciscan habit. I think an update was needed but still not sure about where it landed.

Wasn't that, but it took the medicos a long time to work it out. In any case, feeling much better and let's face it, it did not happen during holiday and I zoned out on hats and movies without guilt for a little over 48 hours. Meds working so I worked most of today. Healthy mind, healthy spirit and all that.

Got Lil'Fed off to camp. She's one of the youth leaders this year.... that's right, The Big Time! We got her a cheapy straw (actual straw, not paper straw or a paper straw/poly blend) at the local farm store (Wilco out this way) so she can block some of the sun this week without worrying about messing up a vintage hat or one of her nicer straws.

Then a couple boxes off at the post office, running errands and home to bunker down, shelter in place, etc, against another 95F degree day. Bob, you're welcome!

I wore the Royal Stetson first thing out the door, then switched to the Borsalino Balibuntal for the heat when running errands.

Long morning walk with bright sunshine and temperature returned to normal for August.
AG 2.jpg

I have revisited walking through a natural playground, the course of a stream, often dry that then was also a dumping ground
So we spent the afternoons doing damage, burning car wheels and anything that could feed the bonfire
AG 5.jpg
Often we were pursued by landowners who saw fire, especially at the end of winter, with dry grass and some fruit trees burning
AG 1.jpg

Now it is a small jungle dominated by trees of heaven and false acacies.
