Good morning. My vtg. Stetson Royal Whippet went on a dog walk this morning. Did not get fatigued, or wet like the dogs and myself.

Hiya.

The Hat Fairy dropped off this nice old Regal Hat Company 5 1/4" crown derby at my house last night. (I love you, Hat Fairy. You make me happy.)

Regal was a Chicago manufacturer that seems to have mainly specialized in caps. It was owned by David Spear. Interestingly enough, his brother owned Spear Hats in New York. Their father was also prominent in the industry in Chicago. The two companies merged into Spear-Regal in the late 1910's.

The last ad that I can find for a Regal derby dates from 1914. The majority of all its derby ads (there aren't many) were published between 1905 (I attach one from that year) and 1907. Their hook was a great hat for just $2.00.

Hope that each of you is having a swell day.

Like I'm always saying, "What this world needs is a good two dollar hat."

Is this the guy that dropped it off?

Good look Jim. That jacket really goes well with that fantastic Dalton. Brim edge color? Rose?

Crown Perry, crown!

Nice one Bob.

We expect a little rain (far too **** warm for the time of year, of course), so I reached for an Akubra. Customized Moonstone Fed today:

I like the look of this Fed. Ribbon is notable.

Fitzgerald Boston Special on a wonderful Wednesday.

Love the color and liner of this one Richard.

Thanks to all for yesterday's likes and kind comments about my granddaughter. Today it's the Trimble.

Really great shoes, Michael and the indented welt left in a natural color is a nice finishing touch.
Thanks BB. They did have some interesting styling points. The other patent in the shoe for the cushioned insole dates back to, I think it was, 1935.

Dang... That Hut done "Spanke"d my eyeballs.
Ha ha. It's a nice velour for sure. Your new derby is one nice unit. Oldie, but goodie.

Great little hat.
Thanks Perry. Great Borsa you pulled out today.

Chameleon color Michael. Super finish. Stay warm.
I've never seen this as anything but coal black, but the camera was sure seeing blue in it today. Not sure if the pea coat is black or navy either.

Thanks all,
Michael
