Hut-Seidl München "Garant" made by Mayser Ulm, 60cm probably mid 1950s. Very high quality felt that easily dry creases. Also I really like the ribbon width and hat form. Hut-Seidl München had a strong historical connection with Mayser Ulm.

Resistol Montana, came with dead rooster hat band, appears original. There is no ribbon underneath, so guess I will have to make one. No way that chicken is staying on this hat.

That is one cool looking hat Dd! Maybe it would look better with peacock feathers. Love that color. What era does this one come from?

There's a great hat under those feathers. The kettle curl looks great, but no better than on your DIY jobs.

I had a straw Shady Brady many years ago that came with a thick band of orangey feathers. The leather they were mounted on was so heavy that the hat usually wound up on my ears in the hot weather when I would sweat in it.

To remedy that, I tied a leather lace, as in what would be used in work boots, around the base of the crown, under that leather/feather band, and tightened it enough to size the hat properly. Very soon after that, I removed the leather/feather thing completely, and the hat took on a much more down-to-business appearance. And it was a lot lighter in weight, too, which was a plus.

I wore that hat for years, until the top unraveled. That's one lid that could've told lotsa good stories.

I remember when those feathers were so popular during the seventies. I worked in a western store and sold hundreds of them.
Mostly cheaply made, and always ugly!

Yeah, I was more interested in the shape of the hat. That's why I got rid of the band.

In fact, before removing it completely, I had tried plucking it, leaving the leather band. :D
