Love the color and cool sweat details. Are they what make it a Comfit? Pristine.

Comfit is the name on the front of the sweat.

Great Knox Eric! That Mugsy post yesterday brought back many good childhood memories of Saturday morning cartoons!

+1. Saturday morning at 7:00am The Bugs Bunny and Road Runner Show and sugared ceral started the weekend.

It is so often difficult to tell the subtleties of color from photos... Does the felt have any particular tones or is it straight-up gray?
Sir it is straight-up gray with charcoal ribbon treatment.

No... I think it would be very hard to find a match to that 100 year old ribbon. I have a number of long hair nutria hats with a curled brim edge and no binding. I thought long and hard before removing it, but in the end I bit the bullet, so to speak.
Maybe not, some times things surface...
I recall seeing a picture of the original hat and the binding was in a really bad shape and removing it was probably the best option.

EDIT:
Here is how it looked when I received it five years ago.
Yes it was that one.

Off to the dentist this morning for a consultation. May need and implant:(. A little dusting of snow coming down to brighten the day even more. Hückel Chamois in black hole black to go with a black overcoat. I see a theme here. Love the feel of this one, supple and "chamois" like.

That's a really sharp looking hat for you.

Thanks Jack, the color is hard to capture. It is called clay, and that's what it reminds me of. The red Oklahoma kind, that will suck your boot off!
Perfect name for that color. In addition to the "suck your boot off" Oklahoma variety, it reminds me of the ornate terra cotta pots I've seen at the local gardening shops except a bit browner and more subtle (on my monitor anyway). It's a wonderful hat, and suits you right down to the ground!

While I'm here, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who regularly wear "western" hats and share them with those of us who don't. I've really begun to gain a greater appreciation for them; y'all are a bad influence, but in a good way!

Really nice good sir. I like the color.

Super Playboy Bowen. Is it early 1950s? You continue to impress me.

You have my attention! Looking forward to eyeballin these. What is the Battersby box like?

Thanks Stefan. I like a hat that tells a story. A slim brim illustrates the change in both styles and the culture during the early 1960s.

This one came from our friend Matt last year. It had a un reeded sweat originally that could not be saved. He had Bond put in a new one. This is one of my early forays into homburgdom. Now I'm an addict.
Thank you, Mike. Homburgs are quite addictive. Restrain yourself or you'll end up with a collection like Mayserwegener has!

Already off to a Tuesdillyicious hat day.

@Short Balding Guy, I never got the Mugsy connection either. Always loved the toons with him in it. Just watch out for that rabbit and stay out of the oven!

@fabiovenhorst, love the wide brim on that one. Classic.

@mmbarnes - Matt, that thing is to die for. A vintage Stetsonian is a bucket list hat for me. Someday...

I took some time on my day off yesterday to do some hat work. Currently rebuilding a thin ribbon for my wife. I also spent some time opening the crown, reflanging, and putting a different crease in this Dalton. What was once a C-crown is now a centerdent.

Sent directly from my mind to yours.
Very fine looking hat, Jim. I'm all for the center dent.
