What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

I've recently discovered Revlon's Lip Butters. I like Candy Apple Red. It's a nice, cheerful, damn-that-is-RED-red. Their Raspberry Pie is nice, too, for a more toned-down red. It looks good with purple. I'm also a fan of Benefit's Benetint Lip Balm in the little pot.

What makeup are you wearing today?

Today's Makeup: Benefit Some Kind-a Gorgeous My Perfect Match (foundation), the 2 lightest beiges from Kat Von D's Ludwig eye palette, and Great Lash mascara. I think I'm trying to get sick. But I actually DID the hair today, so I'm trying to not get sick.

What draws you to the vintage eras?

Ibid et. al. to what everyone else has said. I like things that are classy and well-made, especially the clothing. I'm a small gal who often cannot wear (or, more to the point, will not wear) a lot of the newer styles, simply because I have trouble finding what I like in my size. I also...

What sparked your fascination with the "Golden Era"?

Wow. . . . that is truly obnoxious! I'm terribly sorry to hear that. . . Yes, a LOT of this comes from parents who act the same way. Sometimes a kid who is rude I can sort of look past. . . adults should know better. Kids don't know they are being rude until someone points it out to them...

What sparked your fascination with the "Golden Era"?

Throwing in 2 more cents--is it just me, or does it seem as if there is quite a lack of basic etiquette that is missing in our modern society? Maybe it's because I work with teenagers all day, but most of mine (MOST) are rather well-mannered. The adults, on the other hand. . . .

What sparked your fascination with the "Golden Era"?

HOP UP, count me in as the "like the way you think" people! LOVE the Art Deco stuff! The opulence of all the gilding and the clean, crisp lines are wonderful! They just don't make "stuff" like that anymore, and I think it's a cryin' shame. :)

What sparked your fascination with the "Golden Era"?

My grandparents! My maternal grandmother had a Japanese pen pal right before WWII broke out, and then lost contact with her during the war. My dad's dad was a Hungarian immigrant who learned English really quickly, and my dad's mom was the daughter of Polish/German immigrants. Both sets of...

    Brooches

@ Juliet--I've seen that look, too, with the brooches on the fascinators! I'm boring and wear mine on lapels of jackets. I do wear Christmas brooches on my coat. A lot of mine were part of a jewelry inheritence from various dead relatives (both grandmothers, a couple of aunts). Oooo, just...

    What are you listening to?

Have had Brian Setzer Orchestra's Jump Jive & Wail stuck in my head for the past week as well as Buddy Holly's Holly Hop:D Every once in a while, when I get a free (read: no kids in the library during 8th period) moment at work I'll pop Anita Baker from my happy li'l droid device onto my...

    Show us your vintage patterns!

Wow! Seeing lots and lots of sewing patterns, and thrilled to pieces that there are patterns for neckties for the fellas, but I'm curious--does anyone on here knit, or is that a different thread I haven't found yet? I'll have to post my one vintage sweater pattern booklet, translated from the...
