How to remove odors from a hat?

You may want to test this on a beater hat, as I've not tried it on felt, but when there is pit stench in dress fabric that cannot be water washed, such as crepe or rayon, even after a good dry cleaning, you can mist vodka on the area of offense and the smell will evaporate with the liquor...

    NEW 2010 Stetson Whippet

I just hope they don't skimp on the quality of fabric. I have the pleasure of counting our local men's shop as a design client. They have been in business for 81 years, so I occasionally run into some of the hats they sold in the 50s/60s, when stores still stamped their name on the hat. The...

I give up...help date this Stetson Fifteen?

Aw, gee whiz! The answer was right there, printed on the tag, and I didn't know it! I would have caught something like that little clue if it was women's wear, but the OPS is a new one. Menswear is hard to date! Hopefully I'll get it and the others up by this weekend. Thanks guys!

I give up...help date this Stetson Fifteen?

I've trolled around here for a while, soaking up whatever I can to beef up my man-hat know-how. However, I've let my fedora conquests pile up for too long and my mens offerings on my site are getting too thin so it's time to stop putting it off! This one, though, is not helping my confidence...

    Olympic Nightmare

Well, if you can't wear goofy pants while participating in a goofy sport, then where can you wear them?

Miss, Mrs. or Madam? The demise of Ms?

This doesn't really help anything, but while reading it reminded me that my Grandma called her Mother-In-Law Mrs. Spotts, instead of by her first name or Grandma/Granny/GreatGranny. You would think they'd be on a first name basis after she'd been married to Grandpa for nearly 60 years and also...

    Recognizing 40's clothing

The majority of the 40s had restrictions on the amount of fabric that could be used, since so much was needed for the war effort. Thus, at least with woman's wear, we see shorter hemlines and slimmer skirts. Often you will find older clothing that has been repurposed, restyled, for "new"...

    SALE: Vintage 1950's Lucite Shoes

Yes, if they really are that large, you might want to give them a run on ebay. As much as I hate listing on the bay these days, you can still get a good price on something of rare size. If those were a bit wider I'd be after them like a crazy person. I swear I have the biggest feet!

Would you ladies wear these shoos?

I have two of the pairs of Docs like Kamicat posted, one in blue and one in gold...but there's something diff about the Docs, even though they bear similarity to the second vertical pair you posted. Something about them just doesn't push them over to the unisex look.

    SALE: Vintage 1950's Lucite Shoes

Those are really delish shoes...are you sure about the insole length? A 10.75" insole measurement would put those at a size 11. As a gal of ample foot, I can tell you that's a real rarity! Are you measuring edge to edge and following the curve with a tape measure?

    Touching Vintage?

Maybe I should rethink the physical store idea, since online sales tend to slow the touchy-touchy. :eusa_doh:

How do tell the age of a hat?

I handle a lot of manni's and dress forms in a day...never thought to put one on my head! Would make a rough time in the car, though.

    why don't they sell abroad?

Some sellers are gun-shy about dealing with folks in other languages and currency (even though Paypal really takes care of that nicely). Some have been screwed badly by sellers in other countries that take advantage of charge-backs. Some don't like to go to the post office, and don't want the...
