we've been through a few normal ones like babes, princess etc. but have settled on something a bit more.... interesting! We both call each other "poppa"! I think it originated from poppet [huh], I'm also "puddle duck" and he's "papa" :D
I have a question for you all about getting rid of dust mites from old fur.... I know the tricks like putting it in the freezer and in a bag with fresh coffee, but it's difficult to do these things because what I'm working with is a very large/thick/heavy 40s sheepskin coat that doesn't fit in...
They may not be as pretty as the other shoes on this thread, but very winter-appropriate and cosy! I recently got these Clark's "Igloos" from eBay.
They are exactly like the ones in this advert from 1957.
I really like those cat eyes she wears in The Hour too. They're quite an unusual shape actually when you look closer.
I recently got my first pair of 40s style rounded frames. They're not vintage, they're by "Epos Milano" an Italian eyewear designer that have a really great classic line with...
it's been a while since I popped in here and it's nice to be inspired by all your fabulous buys again! :) All lovely, ladies.
I suppose I should post my most recent buy from Etsy - a 50s shirtwaister in a really cute print with heart-shaped leaves. Bought it and wore it for my first year...
Flicka - those 30s shoes are fantastic!! The first pair is incredible!
The one pair of 40s shoes that I have been wearing regularly I've just been walking on the original leather soles, and they seem to be holding up really well, including the hard rubber tip on the heels. But I do try not...
SheBear are those two pigtails? It looks really cute! :)
Alice, your waves came out so well! I normally use small rollers all over, but I'm now really tempted to go and get some medium sized ones and do bigger waves! Gorgeous.
You've got a perfect front roll there! I always find these really hard to do! Incidentally I tried myself the other day... I hadn't set my hair so I put it up and covered most of it with a beret and just did a front roll, but just kept slipping and this was the best I could manage (with a ton of...
oops, I just read the previous page and missed this one!
As for husbands.... mine has slowly got used to it and he now really likes the vintage! At first he thought it was a bit "prim and proper", maybe because he's a bit of an "alternative" guy with a lot of tattoos etc (he still laughs at...
I wear vintage almost every day and always vintage style even if the clothes are modern or repro, and it feels very natural to me now and I don't really reflect on my outfits being outside of the norm, I only get reminded of it when people comment on my style. But then I built up to it slowly so...
belated happy birthday SheBear! That cheesecake is immense! :)
I finally got back into setting my hair! I got really disheartened with setting it a couple of months ago when it flopped spectacularly one windy day, but a couple of days ago I decided to give it another go! It does feel so nice...
K.McG, I've looked for a hat just like that for ages! Love it :)
Here's my latest ebay purchase, a bakelite mah jong bracelet. I see quite a few of these around but many don't seem to be made from bakelite, but this one *should* be... let's wait and see!
