    Vintage-Inspired clothing lines

It looks like GetGoRetro.com is selling dresses made by Heartmycloset (Etsy)/TopRunway (EBay). I haven't checked to see if they mark up the prices, but surely they do. Overall, GetGoRetro has a nice selection. Just an observation.

Oh, the Stigma of an Astigmatism. . .

I'm considering new frames from http://www.deadmensspex.com/default/. They have a nice selection and prices are reasonable. I prefer the 1940s style in general, but I haven't found any 40s frames that I like. How strange would it look for me to be dressed/styled in 1940s, but wearing 1950s...

    Show Us Your Compacts . . .

This compact belonged to my Great Grandmother, Eldora. It's tiny, but the mirror is clear and works just fine for me. These pictures are actually from an Ebay listing that I ran across last night of the same compact I have. A little lazy on my part, but the pictures were great. My compact is...

Everyday Women of the Golden Era

My Grandmother, Norma Jane Moody Aggelis (b.1931) c.1946. She was a beautiful lady, inside and out. The dress was almost certainly made by my Great Grandmother, Eldora Moody. Norma at Kissingen Springs, Bartow, Florida in the mid 40s. The springs are no longer there. From what Grandma...

    Show Us Your Vintage Groceries!

Neat photo. I noticed that the crate of Tropical Fruits to the right of the picture is from Lake Placid, FL which is about a 2 hour drive from where I live now and about an hour away from where I grew up. They were one of our big high school football rivals. It made me smile.

    From mother to daughter

When my maternal Grandmother died in November 2009, I got several things. We were very close and I miss her more than words can say. None of them are of real monitary value, but they mean the world to me. Among them was: A huge collection of pink Depression Glass and a few teal Depression...

First Project Hi, girls! I've just ordered the famous and fabulous Butterick 4790 for my very first sewing project. Sponge rollers---your looks and suggestions?

I have the same problem. I have long, EXTREMELY thick hair. I have the exact same set of rollers. The first set I did turned out a little tighter than I had planned, but the curls were nice. The set I did last night turned out horribly. I spritzed my sections with a little water to...
