Thanks martini time! Sadly my hair IS slightly too short (it's just above shoulder length) for a ponytail :( And lol... I know what you mean about having only two arms! Usually I can do it fairly well but.. ugggh. It just was a huge mess this time. :P
Hi ladies,
I've got a swing dance to go to in, oh, an hour and thirty minutes. (So I don't know if I'll even get REPLIES by then! ;)). Being a college student with all my vintagey accouterments 3,000 miles away, all I've really got are bobby pins, round brush, comb, and a flat iron. What can...
So glad to see these places are still around and showing vintage movies! What a treat! - - kind of OT, but they remind me of those wonderfully art deco buildings you can see in the 80s Poirot films. I hope those are still around!

Mojito, I don't have that Dean Merceron book -- the one where I first saw her dresses was the Kyoto Fashion book. I'm gonna have to look it up though; I just love preliminary sketches vs. the final results. Please excuse my drool, especially over the last dress! lol They are gorgeous...
I don't know about you ladies, but after seeing so many glamorous movie star portraits I fall into the perception that that's what everyone looked like back then. (My common sense is vacationing in Maui during these times apparently)
I found a really interesting site, Square America that has...
Wow, what a cool idea!! :) It's great to see something different and unusual from the era in terms of reenacting-- yet something that actually existed back then. And I LOVE baseball! Thanks for bringing this one back up!
Those dresses are just beautiful... I love 1920s fashion so much!
My favorite designer of the era has to be Lanvin ...
Not a very great picture, but an example of the beautiful dresses that are in this fashion book I have :)
katiekat, I'm in western WA-- ever heard of Kitsap County? :) Thanks for your reply btw. I have the Rago one (Corselette?) bookmarked, but just am not 100% committed to getting the stockings and so on just yet -- I am thinking of Spanx myself, but wasn't sure how well they worked. I do a lot...
Oh dear, thanks for letting me know BeBopBaby. I seem to have bad luck at ON with their tops. Pants, on the other hand, I am always going a size down. I got a great pair of swing dance pants there. Weird!
I'm up in the air about getting a girdle. Is it worth it? Does it really help (allow...
Hey gals,
Thank you for this thread full of resources. :) I must have at least 50 tabs open right now, LOL!
I spotted this dress on Old Navy's site. Of course it is not in XXL- does anyone have it in their stores??? I get really annoyed as I finally decided to shop at ON, and they never...
Oooh, thanks for the links guys! I just may have to take a peek over at Target :)
Just found this cute pattern on another page... I love those wide legged pajama pants!
Pajamas
I am dying for some cute vintage PJs! OK, probably not authentic vintage, but at least a few ideas. I loved the pajamas on the cover of that one recent "vintage" Simplicity pattern, but I really wanted cotton pajamas-- it was talking about silk and other stuff I'm not brave enough to...
Unfortunately, I can't remember the story too well, but one of the older men from my church was telling me how his most vivid memory from the era was watching some of the well-to-do businessmen on a street in an upper-class commercial area dig for their meals from the trash cans.
