Problem is portuguese customs are nowadays too slow. It took them the same amount of time to check my box than the total travel time of the box that came through GSP.
This is terrible bad. And they still write my name with errors after more than 10 years dealing with them

I was lurking around and saw www.catalenahats.com does a Grizzly finish in all the qualities of felt , I think www.montanapeaks.com do , too , and some others . Shags are coming back !

I love the long hair finish Black Sheep Hat Co does. They have a hat called the Bismarck that is gorgeous. I wonder if they can do a wide brim western in that finish...

I bet they could . Esther does long hair finishes all the time . BSHW has some nice Hats !
I remember Larry Mahan wearing a shag back in his Hay Day , I loved that Hat !

Yes, I have a Resistol Panda, a Stetson with long hair finish and a moth eaten Thoroughbred, but none of them is black.

I've been wanting to get a hat identical to what James Dean wore in Giant but would appreciate some input regarding the crown height and brim width. The closest Stetson model I've found is the Paradise 20X.
It comes in a 4 5/8 or 4 1/4 crown and 4'' or 4 1/4'' brim. Attached are a few pics of the hat. The brim is shaped more upward than what you normally see on a Stetson

Don't know if it's identical but Stetson used to make a James Dean model that was a 4x beaver model. They'll pop up on the bay every now and then.

I'd say a 6 inch crown and 4 1/2 inch brim just by looking.

I'll disagree Moviehats , 4" brim max , 6" open crown . I'm sure there's info on the Hat , but that's what I see . And I'm sure Bama is right , you'll find a 4X in the style , the brim is just taco-ed (1/4" makes a HUGE difference) , that's not a 4 1/4" or 4 1/2" brim . But if I'm wrong , you can rub my nose in it .
