Philosophical: Activities and escapism

Ok, hobbys, culture, art and so on.

But, sometimes I think about, how much of all is hobby and how much is escapism, in fact. For example, going to cultural establishments, beeing interested in the happenings or, if you are honest to yourself, really like the relaxing peace there, too. o_O Or beeing underways in mother nature and so on.

I think, it's a fluent passage. Starting on hobby, developing escapism, or so.

I'm all for escapism....I'd much rather be in my world or indeed in another world than in the 'real world' so I escape whenever I can. Art & nature are my primary gateways to otherworldliness. :)

I think the line between transcendence and escapism is a thin one. And oft times I do not notice the difference so an activity that one time can indeed be transcendent can at other times be merely escapism. At this point in my life I don't spend too much time attempting to discern the diff.

In my weak attempts to be a writer I'll never get this deep, but I submit this: & I have to agree with him.

Escapism is necessary to sanity in this world. I only protest when the chosen form of escapism crosses the line into "killing time", which is a sin in my book.
