My new Brent Black Panama

Good day, I don't post a lot but look around here quite often. Thought to share my purchase of a Panama for the benefit of others.

It was time to buy a summer hat and decided on a Panama. With so many sellers offering online kind a lost the way and after reading a lot on the Fedoralounge decided to go with Brent Black because I found no negative comments about his hats anywhere.

I wanted a real Montecristi with a nice weave in a Fedora style. The buying experience was top notch and I got good advice on the size. Normally I buy a size over my actual head measurement but now went for the exact same size. Fit is spot on and the hat does not get blown off to easy by the wind.
The hat is very soft and feels like fabric, obviously no stiffeners were used. My first Panama and find it hard to believe this is handwoven.

Made the pictures without flash to emphasise the details.

Anyway, here it is;
Brent Black classic Fedora, leather sweat, Mediterranean blue ribbon (match with my 116619LB), unbleached.
Nice even weave count about 26x29 and 10 rings. Back weave is amazing.
Sharp defined crown, all in all very well made with attention to detail.

Price 1K, expensive ? yes, sure, but I enjoy it so fine for me.

Amazing hat. That measuring tape must be in centimeters, not inches. You threw me off for a second there. Now there's a "Grail" hat to be sure.

ETA: The only thing I would ask, is for more pictures... like of the inside sweat, and showing the weave rings with some light shining from the outside, etc. Stuff like that. Do take up Alan's offer to post more on the Panama Hats thread.

And, oh my heavens, Congratulations! on such a wonderful Montecristi!

Chaps, Thank you for your kind replies.
I add some pictures of the rings and sweatband.

The leather sweatband sits perfectly flush against the hat body. No gaps or bends.

Personally I only like leather sweatbands, many online sellers don't provide that option. This one is very nicely done.

The way the blue ribbon and the bow was done by BB is also something I am pleased with. I see many Panama's with a much simpler ribbon. It's only minor details but those will bother me eventually.

I hope this post is helpful for somebody in the market for a Panama,
Cheers

Looks great. Hope you enjoy! If I had enough money I'd probably go for the Classic Fedora or Kentucky Smith in Safari edition

Beautiful looking panama. It may seem like a lot of money, but considering the amount of work that goes into them it is certainly worth it. You can lokk at it as an investment in a dying art, because there are fewer and fewer weavers around to make them.
