Ive purchased several coin cufflinks for an eBay vendor: fridays_jewelry
I've been pleased with his work. I've toyed with the idea of making my own out of pre-1964 silver US dimes. The prevalence of inexpensive backs makes creating your own appealing if you have the skill and tools.

My favorite coin cufflinks are/were a bi-metal gold and silver French 10 franc coin of Icarus flying too close to the sun. My wife recently made a gift of them to her nephew and I've yet to replace them.

A word of advice, some coins are not the best candidates. I have a pair of 1964 British half penny cufflinks that are so tarnished they are unusable (they were shinny and bright when I received them). I'm afraid that polishing will also remove the detail on the coins. Based on that experience, I stay away from copper coins. Your silver Barber quarters should make striking cufflinks. Looking forward to the photos.

I collect pre 1964 silver coins so I have barber and liberty quarters and dimes in rolls. Enough I could pick two decent ones out

I also have some slabbed ones but I don't think I will be cracking them open

There are solder on backs, but I've also seen some designed for coins with a pocket to hold the coin. The solder type are fine, but if the solder is wrong or if the temp is off they won't last. I've never made the leap to cufflinks, but I've had enough other soldering project failures to give me pause.

Please let us know how this project plays out. I'd be interested in seeing photos too if possible.

I may cheat and use a high strength epoxy. Then I can always remove them by soaking in acetone

Started with Washington Silver quarters if they don't hold up I won mind losing them as much as a Barber. I went with my and my wife's borth year and used good old JB Weld to put them on . Going to wear them to church today so I will see how they do with a day out

Will do. When used correctly JB Weld is durable. I cleaned the coins and backs with acetone first so it should be good

Gave them a touch of silver polish they sparkled right up. I don't like coins with real people on them but I guess Washington isn't too bad

Wore them to church and they stayed together just fine. This type of epoxy usually strengthens with age so I don't forsee any problems

I picked out four nice Barber quarters two heads two tails to make two more pair this will give me essentially three sets to wear, two heads, two tails, and one of each, out of four coins and backs

Might looks for some smaller backs to make some from a pair of dimes as well

My favorite US coin cufflinks are the buffalo head nickels. They are the perfect diameter and thickness. Just an idea.

Back in the late 1950s my father brought home his latest acquisition namely his Pink Elephant cuff links with matching tie clip made by Hickok USA ~

The full glorious pink coloration of the beasts is elusive of capture.

These must have been quite the hot item in the late 1950s/early 1960s. Having inherited this set, maybe I'll delight my mother by wearing them for Christmas dinner this year just for old time's sake.

Strangely enough I didnt own any Brooks Brothers cufflinks so I recently grabbed these. They match the buttons on three of my blazers. Pictures are a bit fuzzy
