Damp, but mild, day here. Just back from town wearing my 1968 G1 jacket over my favorite L.L. Bean zip sweater. Really, I have to do something about that hat!

No no no - that hat is cool, it has character! Don't ever get rid of it... but if you do, let me have first crack at it.

Wearing my old vintage Swedish double breasted leather jacket today. These jackets used to be called “bryggarfrack” which translates to “brewers tailcoat”. I don’t know much about it, besides that it was made in Malung, but it has a wonderful soft goat hide with plenty of character and a nice warm lining (reminiscent of moleskin). I’ve seen similar jackets that sellers claim was from the 50’s.

If my jacket is that old both leather and lining are in remarkable good condition.

Huge blizzard hit the East coast today; 60 mph winds (almost lost the windsock atop the ferry terminal!), violent waves, snow, ice, freezing temps and of course whiteout/zero visibility! The Navy deck jacket performed admirably but goggles were a necessity if you stepped outside and faced into the wind.

I've used Leather Honey Conditioner (not the cleaner) and have had no bad experiences. But like any conditioner, a little goes a long way.
Thanks for the tip. I will look for the Honey Leather, not the cleaner. I wanna darken Blondy, up a bit, but don't really want to radically change it.
Peace.

Thanks for the compliment @BobJ! Most days I do love my job; today however, with this winter super-blizzard blasting the whole East Coast it was long and arduous. It was so cold there was ice frosting the INSIDE of the pilot house windows! It makes me appreciate all the routine “boring” days :D
Hey @thor, the colder it gets, the happier you look. You are giving @Worf a run for his money on his big smile. Stay safe!
Plus, I am more than certain that you earned the title Captain!
Peace.

Very beautiful jacket. It reminds me quite a bit of the Finnish Friitala jackets of the 1930's and '40's, which, as I understand it, were often made of goat or sheepskin. Great designs and rugged-looking as well.

Thank you! Yes, agree about the reminiscence with Friitala, a lot of vintage designs from Malung is similar to the Finnish designs I think.

I have never seen a vintage Swedish jacket that wasn’t goat hide or sheep skin (not that I’m a huge collector), it would be interesting to know if there are any old Swedish jackets made from other hides like cow or horse.

Aero Hercules - Had to wipe all of the dried on salt off after getting to work today. It's messy out on the roads. The hercules is my designated cold coat since I can fit a couple layers underneath and still move with it on. It held up well to the single digit ride in to work. Bonus photo of Sou'west chunkies gansey.

@jonesy86 thanks for the kind words! I share your sentiments; @Worf is The Man and I look forward to the latest and greatest from Mr. Worf :D
I always try to have fun at work and do my best to enjoy what I’m doing (hence the smile).
Peace, Brother!

Nah... No way. There's plenty here got me beat. I'm nowhere near being the man. Right now I'm just trying to keep from becoming the worlds largest fudgecicle! As for you my man, I can't swim sooooo have fun out there on the bounding main. I just hope we don't get a quick thaw that'll lead to ice breakage and flooding up river from you. And by "up river" I mean Troy!

Hey Worf
I am rather un-educated, formally. Grew up in kitchens. But, I like semantics. fudgecicle!....? I gotta look that one up. :)
