We've moved to the Phoenix area and I'm looking for some great vintage events and resources and shops and etc. to explore.
Does anyone have ideas?
Thank you for sharing!

A wonderful website just full of vintage, and there is a shop in New York:

I loved browsing the pages, and am definitely looking at the antique perfume bottles and vanity sets!
Hope you enjoy,

What are your thoughts on the Cuban heel design? I've seen stiletto heels, boot heels and pump heels all described with "Cuban" heels.
What is the true definition, design and history behind the Cuban heel?
Any thoughts will be appreciated!!
Thank you,

This film was on Turner Classics tonight. The vintage fashions were really great to see. One, in particular, was worn by the female owner of the carnival, and I can't remember her name. Anyway, it was a flowered print, with a cross-over bodice; really cute!
Does anyone else have favorite...
I have a 21-year old daughter who has done modeling for catalogs and commercials, has photos, an agency, etc. She learned about the Powder Room from me and has been reading through the topics and messages for several months.
While she enjoys the contemporary modeling she does, her interest...
Can anyone explain this term with regard to stocking sizes for nylon, silk or cotton stockings?
Is the stocking size the same as one's shoe size?
Thanks for the info!

It does seem a bit pricey, but I think I could wear it, especially with Spring right around the corner.
Any thoughts?
I've written before about our daughters and introducing them to vintage style. My teenage daughter, who is very much her own person, is now interested in learning how to adapt this look to herself. She is a mature 14, tall and "curvy" as she says.
I grew up in the late '50's and '60's, so...
I was looking through the Overstock.com website and found this really cute "vintage" inspired, at least to me, dress:

and there were also some cute shoes...
I'm definitely interested in attempting my vintage-inspired clothing project, but where to begin is another matter.
While I'm not a novice seamstress, I get easily frustrated with the sewing. So would attempting an apron with some vintage fabric or vintage-type print fabric be the way to go...
This may seem like a wild question, but does anyone have information on vintage or retro fashion trends in Asia? Specifically, I'm thinking of Hong Kong, Macau, Tokyo, as large population centers and what might be available.
Thanks for the info!

I have tried on various vintage-inspired shoes, the last ones were from Target. On all of them, the leather was very stiff, even hard, and so uncomfortable, I cannot imagine wearing them for any reason.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is the leather on actual vintage shoes softer than...
My daughter has expressed a strong interest in vintage dressing. We've been watching the old films on the Turner classic movie channel, I think that is the name of it, and she was enamored by some of the dresses that Esther Williams was wearing in a recent film.
Have your daughters expressed...

I was looking for 1940's recipes, and I came across this vintage clothing site. The items appear to be in very good condition, and nicely photographed.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to developing your own style! I really appreciated reading through the emails.
Now, another question: I am 5'1, somewhat overweight (not a skinny minnie model) and I would really like to begin dressing in the late 1940's, to early 1950's style. Does anyone...
:) Does anyone know the shade of red for this product? Is it bright? Is it an orange-red or towards the blue-red color?
Also, were the early Coty lipsticks heavy on the oils or wax? My mother used a red Coty lipstick during the early 1960's, but she can't remember what shade it was, just...
How did you decide which era or eras to adapt as your own vintage style?
What motivated you?
Are you a "purist" or do you incorporate various elements to make your own vintage style?
I'm trying to avoid comments such as, "Why are you wearing that old thing?"lol
Yours in vintage,
Ccc
