    The Artist

That's fascinating, and disappointing. I wonder what format and framing of the original camera negatives used. It would be tragic if it was shot the same way :eeek:. With digital intermediates, there's no need for the negative format to match the projected format, so I really hope they shot...

    Very old German frock-coat

Did google translate this correctly? "According to today's standards, today more of a piece of clothing for women"

Very nice, my size too. I think I'll go for it!

Sharp 1930s Fordham Tan Belted Back 3 button Patch Pocket Coat

Interesting. At first glance, I would have thought late '60s or early '70s. I guess the three-button configuration and lack of a long center vent would be evidence that it's from an earlier era?

1930s Learbury suit from thrift store Earlier this week, I found an excellent double-breasted Learbury suit (manufactured in Syracuse, NY) at a local thrift store. Dark charcoal with pinstripes. I could not find any wear or flaws except for some discoloration of the cotton pocket and fly...

Say, does it have a lapel button hole, or do the jpeg compression artifacts give the mistaken impression that it doesn't?

    Show us your TIES

Yeah, it was fun too. I had a red-eye flight in the evening, my conference ended at noon, and I pack light. I figured it would also give me a chance to see Union Station before taking a shuttle to the airport By the way, here are the ties I picked up a few days ago. There are tons more...

1930's lot: 3-piece SB suit, overcoat, all dated 1936

Wow. I was imagining their stock would be "theatre" quality with holes, tears, or other flaws that would be largely invisible to the camera (especially on an extras in the background). I'm watching this thread with great fascination and curiosity, and hope the plan works out!

I was just there earlier this summer whilst attending a conference at UCLA. This being my first visit to Los Angeles, I decided to walk all the way from the university to a Metro station near Hollywood & Vine. I forgot to consider the fact that there might be nice vintage or consignment shops...

1930's lot: 3-piece SB suit, overcoat, all dated 1936

It looked like it was very close to my size-- until I noticed I was reading the measurements of the overcoat rather than the suit jacket. Oh well. I suppose the suit itself would be considered to be a 36?

1920s Vintage 'Oh My God' Suit

Fantastic! Was this a recent find? Is there a story behind it? Oddly enough, I was searching for information on the technical aspects of pleats when I found the original post where you found that belted back NRA tagged suit (which you just sold a few days ago for an excellent price).

Perhaps it was designed as a 3-roll-2 suit. The top button hole looks reversed (i.e. the rough side out). If you fasten only the middle button, is the top button now hidden behind the roll of the lapel and the "finished" side of the upper button hole exposed?

NRA BELTED BACK for SALE...here's your chance...don't miss it! Large Size!

Is this a picture of an elbow that has a stain and a {scuff, repair}?

I hope that's not bespoke, the armholes look a bit low :p

I was prepared to go fairly high, but... wow indeed! It was sure fun to watch, though.

1930s belted back suit - light gray flannel - excellent condition!

Most of mine are in the 17"-17.5" range, with a sleeve 24.5-25.5" long from the shoulder. None of them have what I would consider high armholes. I am assuming the 18.5 measurement on this one means "very high armhole", and the sleeve would be 23-24" long, but I agree that it would be good to...

1930s belted back suit - light gray flannel - excellent condition!

Hmm, our heights differ by .25", and I am a 33-34 waist. For a trim, streamlined fit, a 42" chest looks like it would work. I think I'll give it a try!
