I've been so sad hearing this. John was truly one of the sweetest and kindest men I've known. I will hold dear the memories of I have of him, picnicking at Fort Mac, chatting about things like vintage Christmas music and our dogs, enjoying his company at Christmas. He will be greatly missed.
Is anyone familiar with the doo wop singer Ercelle Tisby? Google had little to offer other than a few songs. I'm hoping there may be a doo wop fanatic around here that can help. Thanks!
The Lemon Drop Kid with Bob Hope. Totally different from the "Damon Runyan Theatre" radio production. I haven't read the story, but I'd guess the radio version is more accurate to the written version and the film is more of a Hope vehicle.
Just wanted to let you folks know that while the Oddball motorcycle gear site has been down since John Sliskovich's passing, his good friend Paul and Paul's wife Amber have continued selling some great clothing for the vintage biker. You can find them at...

Everyone's dogs are beautiful! But remember, while pugs are adorable, they do shed a lot. Puggles don't shed as much, but being crossed with a beagle would make me nervous because beagles can be a handful.
We have a silky terrier. It's a cross between a yorkie and an australian terrier...
Marc, I was watching the Cicada broadcast at home when Dean called you to the stage. I nearly fell out of my chair! You were in great character and looked fantastic!:eusa_clap
Thanks guys! Chris is doing quite well now. We are all in favor of the proper safety gear, too, and this has given us the chance to show many of Chris's friends just how important the "uncool" helmet is. Now even the ones who didn't wear them before have them.
Actually, far from turning...
While the subject of "the dangers of cycling" is fresh, I'll post some pictures of my son's accident in July.
He was riding his dad's bike when he was hit by a car. The girl driving the car was totally blinded by the setting sun and didn't see him until the impact. I guess she'd slowed down...
It's not the cost of water at dances venues, it's the entitlement thing again. "I paid to get in and you expect me pay to for water too  ?" And if you raise the cover too much, the dancers do quit coming.
I agree with what others have said. If someone doesn't have the money to go...
I agree that the crashing seems to have increased. The events I've worked here have been mostly fundraisers. And at my last couple fo events, we had to make sure all entry points were guarded during the entire event.
I often see crashers showing up in the last half hour or so because there...
I hit the jackpot 2 weeks ago. I paid $20 for the suitcase and it's contents. 146 vintage patterns. Mostly 50's high fashion, a bit of mens and womens 40's stuff. Some nicer looking 60's and 70's stuff that was actually worth keeping. My daughter is the seamstress in the house, but I expect to...
My husband and I met 23 years ago, and have been married 19 years. He wasn't vintage at first, but got hooked on the music about 10 years ago. When he saw the upright bass, it was love. My kids are also vintage, but for my son it's more of an occasional thing. Chris is 15 and Kat is 18.
My daughter and I are looking for 30's - 40s movies with costume party or masquerade ball scenes. Can anyone think of any? They don't have to be available for rent or purchase. I know I've seen several, but my mind is just blank now that I'm looking for them. Thanks!
This is our 1949 Plymouth Club Coupe. We had hoped she would have her "debut" this summer as the baby sister of all the other Plymouths around here. She was bought as a restoration project and future car for my daughter while we were living in Washington, but now we find we just don't have the...
My husband and I met Frankie at the Century masters show in 2007. We got to hang out with him all day during rehearsals. He was such a wonderful man, and an inspiration to countless dancers. I'll miss him. He's dancing with angels now.
Mmm, tamales. Though with your avatar, I have this kind of funny vision of Bogie making them. :)
Some of the recent dishes I've made are salmon pan fried with light olive oil, garlic, lemon and pepper, grilled asparagas, an buttered egg noodles.
Creme brulee for dessert. I'm afraid...
Today, April 15th, is Benny Holiday's birthday. But in a way, he is going to miss it. He flew out of Los Angeles yesterday. April 14th. Because of the time change he arrives back in Australia on the 16th, basically skipping over the 15th. However, here in L.A. it is still the 15th. So...
I've been a military wife for 18 years an counting (enlisted and eventually officer) and wear vintage daily. Here's what I've learned over the years.
Because you are a participant in the ceremony, you should dress according to the level of formality of the ceremony/to the same level your...
