1950s Suit Photos

Hi All,

I need a bit of help. I took this suit in to have it altered:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...72822&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_5219wt_1167

Its a 38R, I wear a 36R. The shoulders of the suit are 3/4 of an inch too wide on either side.

My tailor is going to take the shoulders in (yeah, tricky I know, but they specialize in vintage tailoring), and suggested I raise the hem of the jacket. I dont want to raise it more than an inch, otherwise the proportions will start to look odd.

I need any of you who own mid 50s suits to send post up photos, either from Wards and Sears catalogs, or you wearing them. I need to show my tailor how a 50s suit should look, and get them to match it for me.

I saved a few of FL'er Kools photos as his clothes are meticulously tailored, but anything helps!

Thanks!

This one is early to mid-'50s.

I'll pass the word on to Joe the Tailor for his meticulousness.

Most of mine are late '40s suits, but yeah, I do have a few up to about '55.
