A-2 Jacket Linings

Hi,
After seeing so many of the vintage A2 jackets linings, I see many have collar snaps on the lining side, covered in the same material as the lining. How is this done? Are manufacturers gluing material over the snap head before installing them, or is lining put over them and somehow snugged over the snap head in some way?

I imagine it's a bit like fabric covered buttons. The snap head is made of two or more pieces, and the fabric can cover the outermost piece and be trapped in place when the whole thing is assembled. This is how fabric covered buttons work (at least vintage silk ones).
