Any cotton/canvas A1 jackets out there?

Gentlemen,

Any labels/manufacturers selling A1s in cotton/canvas/gabardine/fabric etc. ?
Searching for a lightweight summer jacket for hot days where leather isn't really an option.

Thanks!

You may want to look at Baracuta (Harrington) jackets. They aren't military, but are fairly similar to an A-1. The Baracuta brand can be expensive, but many makers offer a cheaper alternative.

Thank you for the suggestion, however I am particularly looking for a jacket with a button-front (A-1 style) instead of a zipper (Harrington style).

Not sure of the quality, but the prices are certainly right.. ;)

Nice hybrid here:

All Wool:

Check the above seller's eBay store.. They have other sizes available. :)

EDIT: Missed the 'summer' part.. Still nice looking A-1's nonetheless. You may want to save an eBay search for vintage 'Field & Stream' 'Gordon Ferguson' jackets.. I have a light khaki A-1 style that isn't too warm with it's thin, cotton / flannel lining. Very light jacket. Here's a pic I posted recently:

EDIT: Also, A-1 style jackets are pretty popular in Italy, and I've seen many variations over the years. Some strong Google-fu may help you find something there. Perhaps search for 'Italian A-1 jacket' to see what surfaces. :)

Apart from the Lost Worlds there are

Ironheart

Cushman

Samurai Jeans has the limited edition denim A-1s and A-2s but A-1s are pretty much sold out.

RT WB of China had made a small batch of canvas A-1. I think a fellow lounger bought one some time ago. Those are also sold out.

Others A-1 style I have seen like the Buzz Rickson's Naval Instructor jackets and RRL etc are made of wool (sort of like a varsity jacket) and are even thicker than the "Summer" leather A-1.

The one I have has grosgrain shell and blanket lining.

Indeed, especially the brand Valstar / Valstarino is famous for making popular civilian A1s in all kind of different fabrics, however, they are impossible to find anywhere as it seems they temporarily halted production (website down).

That would have been the perfect jacket, unfortunatley RT WB is not offering them anymore. What a pitty. - Great jacket!

Use the term 'blouson' in your search rather than A-1. That's what this style of jacket is often called in civilian circles.

Thanks for the tip, although my 3-hour long google-search comes up empty handed. Seems nothing decent is currently available. And I don't want to go the custom-route by asking Aero, SB etc to make me a one-off canvas A1...

We should be able to make you one for a decent price at Headwind Mfg Let me get together with our pattern makers and run down some material options. Are you leaning towards canvas or is cotton an acceptable material as well? Also what color are you interested in?
