Bailey Switchback

I bought a Bailey Switchback style hat from a local retailer and when it got wet the felt discolors. Does anybody know why this is happening? I thought it might be because it is new and the dye has not set in really good yet. Could this be the reason. It said on the tag it was water proof.

You can do a little search here and will find while a wool can be a nice hat... stuff happens with them.
It would seem it happened with yours.

If it says it's waterproof and it discolored in when wet, I'd definitely take it back to the retailer. I'd also contact Bailey about a refund or replacement that actually is waterproof, and so they know there are problems with either the manufacturing or the labeling of that line of hats.
