Diamond point bow ties

How does the general rule about bow ties not being wider than your collar / face apply to diamond point bows?

Is it okay if the points go out further like here: http://www.stangeberlin-onlineshop.de/images/2075689ce30757009.jpg

...Or in the third picture down here: http://thecordialchurchman-blog.com...y-the-straight-and-the-diamond-point-bow-tie/

?

I'm assuming it's fine as long as the main part of the bow not including the points is within the boundaries of your collar/face, as otherwise diamond points would have to be pretty small on the whole.

Thanks!

For me it depends on how wide the "bow" is cut. Most of mine, I tie so that the "north and south" points on the front part of the bow line up with the points on the back part, just like a regular bow tie. A couple of my diamond points are cut with the bow a bit wider, and I think they do look a bit too wide, so those I tie shorter, so that the diamond points don't stick out quite as far from the bow. Like the 4th tie down here; http://www.beautiesltd.com/category/bow-tie-width-size-style

Tom: Thanks for the tips. I've just tried doing what you said, tying it so that the diamond points only stick out a little bit or not really at all. That helps my bow not to look too big!
