Anybody old enough to remember this b x w Broderick Crawford 50's TV favorite?
Question: Why did Crawford's character wear a suit and fedora and not a uniform like all the other highway officers? Can't recall ever seeing CHPS get out of a cruiser to ticket in such sartorial splendor...even back in the fifties.

Can't say as I know why, but it brings back good memories of a fine actor, of a show I always enjoyed. Thanks for the URL it was good to read the article about the CHP

He was CHIEF of the Highway Patrol, not one of the officers. (Chief Dan Matthews)
