It's never too late to post a good homburg. The nation isn't going anywhere!
I posted a glimpse of it in the what hat are you wearing today thread. Here it is in full. Battersby homburg in brown (oddly called "metal" on the label). Size 56, with a 6,5 cm brim and a crown at 10,5cm at the pinch. Frayed bow and unlined. This is an early Battersby (pre-WWII) hat and the moths have had a nibble here and there, but it doesn't detract from the hat in my view. It came with the box too. I'll post the pictures of that in the British makers thread.

Maybe the metal they are referencing is bronze or copper with that brownish tone?

Stetson had a line of "Metal" colors in the late 30's.....................was the "thing" at the time.
This one is 1937 and they had other "metal colors" too......M
Mike, Mark, thanks. With the word "metal" I automatically think of greys, but copper and bronze are valid metal colours too of course. I do own a borsalino in "bronzo" but this ad above is the first time I've heard of the colour copper (for a hat that is).Stetson had a line of "Metal" colors in the late 30's.....................was the "thing" at the time.

Not sure if I posted this here...had it a while....it is a "rough weather go to" hat for me. It is an early 60's Beaver hats "Major" with a great long hair finish..................looks a lot better in person...hats are so darn hard to photograph.
As you can see the bow is of definite European influence being a single wing or "half bow". Many American makers were doing that around 1960 or so....AND remarked about that feature.

It really is a very cool looking hat. Very rare to see a long hair homburg. Alan (alanfgag) has one in brown that is to die for.

Yes, I have a brown one too. It is from Stratton, the uniform hat company. They used to make other hats too!!!

Indeed. It makes me wish there were more hat receipts from long ago, or stamped dates somewhere. I like utilizing clues on my garments to imagine the history behind it.

I forgot to mention I did see Alan's brown homburg, and well...nothing can really compare to that (or many of Alan's hats really)!!!

Super find but not a Homburg. It's not a Snap Brim either (has a pronounced Over-Welt) so worn as shown.
The Optimo above doesn't fit my opinion of a Homburg because of the Brim flange and curl.
